We are looking for an Estimator to join our growing Mobility team, providing estimating expertise across major transportation and infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimating professional who enjoys working collaboratively, influencing key project decisions, and contributing to the successful delivery of complex programmes.
The opportunity\
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, robust and auditable cost estimates across a range of projects and bids.
Working closely with project teams, technical specialists, clients and senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in developing cost strategies, benchmarking solutions and supporting informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
You'll have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting mobility and infrastructure programmes in the market while developing your expertise within a supportive and high-performing team.
You’ll be responsible for
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for projects and bids within the Mobility sector.
- Developing estimates using recognised estimating methodologies, historical data and benchmarking techniques.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all technical, commercial and delivery aspects are reflected within estimates.
- Supporting risk and opportunity assessments and contribute to robust cost planning processes.
- Undertaking benchmarking exercises and analysis to validate estimate accuracy.
- Communicating estimating assumptions, outputs and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Liaising with clients, supply chain partners and internal teams to gather information and challenge assumptions where required.
- Supporting quality assurance activities to ensure estimates are accurate, consistent and fit for purpose.
- Contributing to tender submissions and business development opportunities.
- Mentoring and support colleagues where appropriate, sharing knowledge and best practice.
- Championing compliance with Mace governance processes and support our commitment to delivering a net zero carbon future.
You’ll need to have
- Experience working as an Estimator within the construction, infrastructure or transportation sectors.
- Strong understanding of estimating principles, methodologies and cost planning processes.
- Knowledge of construction techniques, project delivery and associated costs.
- Experience using estimating systems and cost management tools.
- Proficiency in Excel and cost analysis software.
- Experience using CAD or PDF-based measurement software.
- Understanding of Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Knowledge of procurement routes and contract delivery models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholder.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience within rail, highways, aviation, active travel, ports or wider mobility infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with industry methods of measurement and sector-specific estimating approaches.
- Passion for innovation and the application of new technologies within project delivery.
