The Senior Project Procurement Specialist is responsible for planning, managing and delivering a portfolio of procurement activities and contracts across a major infrastructure programme.
Working closely with commercial, project and stakeholder teams, you will develop procurement strategies, lead tendering and negotiation activities, and ensure the timely delivery of procurement projects in line with programme objectives, governance requirements and applicable procurement legislation.
The role requires strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness and market engagement experience, alongside the ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously.
You will support the delivery of best-value outcomes, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and provide guidance to junior procurement professionals.
You’ll be responsible for
- Directing and managing a portfolio of procurement projects from strategy development through to contract award.
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with programme and business objectives.
- Managing tendering, supplier selection and contract award processes in compliance with relevant legislation and internal governance requirements.
- Managing or supporting complex commercial negotiations alongside project and commercial teams.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Conducting market analysis and supplier engagement activities to understand market trends, risks and opportunities.
- Supporting category management initiatives and the development of effective commercial and contracting strategies.
- Ensuring procurement risks are identified, managed and reported appropriately.
- Maintaining accurate procurement records, reporting and governance documentation.
- Supporting contract administration activities, including variations, extensions and supplier performance management.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and procurement best practice across the programme.
- Mentoring and supporting junior procurement professionals, helping to develop capability within the wider team.
- Ensuring compliance with procurement legislation, company policies and delegated authority requirements.
You’ll need to have
- Proven procurement experience within major infrastructure, construction, utilities or capital programmes.
- Strong knowledge of public sector and/or regulated procurement environments, including relevant UK procurement legislation.
- Experience leading end-to-end procurement activities and managing complex supply chain relationships.
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing procurement strategies, category plans and commercial models.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced project environment.
