You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Checking the works are constructed in accordance with the contract and notify the Construction Superintendent of non-conformance request requirements.
- Submitting details of any non-conformance request requirements to assist in the issuing of nonconformance reports.
- Proactively communicating with other site teams, maintaining good communication links and ensuring surveillance is timely reported.
- Contributing surveillance information to support KPI indicators.
- Endeavouring to identify potential quality issues before they arrive to enable mitigating actions.
- Supporting team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within quality standards.
- Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to prevent the halt of works.
- Ensuring design decisions are considered and approved via a formal process.
- Enhancing the team with a good perspective of current and future site activities.
- Ensuring tasks are developed to quality in accordance with the company’s requirement for health, safety and environment.
- Developing and maintaining an understanding of construction drawings, construction activities, Quality Control Plans and quality inspection records.
- Ensuring and monitoring that quality inspection records are taken and agreed before Works are covered up.
- Reviewing Contractor performance against the authorised Quality Control Plan.
You’ll Need To Have:
- Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Welding qualifications or equivalent vocational training and experience.
- Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the engineering construction industry, materials, trades methods and legal requirements.
- Excellent organisation, delegation, and good communication skills.
- Proven experience of writing diaries which are accurate, concise and with relevance to the particular form of contract.
- Proven track record of working within a large construction team.
- Good attention to detail when checking work and materials and the ability to maintain quality standards in a high-pressure environment.
- Able to establish appropriate working relationships with the contractors.
- Working knowledge of relevant British and European standards, construction and design codes/guidelines such as RCC-M, BS EN and ASME.
- Knowledge of the documentation used in safety critical construction and fabrication environments such as Inspection and test plans, end of erection status reports.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate experience working or studying the fields of metallurgy, welding, and NDT.
- Experience in weld inspection on large construction projects.
