The project: At Mace we are growing our Transportation division, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Engineer to join our Rail team. This role offers remote working.

You’ll be responsible for:
- Co-ordination of work with other contractors and network rail.
- Liaison with route engineers (discipline).
- Substantial experience in the design, installation and commissioning of fire systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of codes and standards pertaining to the design of fire systems which shall include evidence of passing relevant courses such as LPC/ BAFE etc.
- Substantial experience in the design and review of fire strategies and engineering solutions.
- Assurance of Fire Systems (limited to system design and commissioning).
- Assurance of fire strategy and designs which are based on following prescriptive guidance and does not include any performance-based design or smoke control and excludes managed stations.
- Assurance of all fire strategies/designs for managed stations or where some aspects of risk analysis or performance-based approach has been adopted.
- Participate in all engineering and development assurance activities so that they result in schemes that are affordable, and that meet programme requirements in a safe & environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
- Use risk ID and evaluation methods (e.g. HAZOP, QRA etc.), as suitable, to evaluate and compare options.
- Act as or liaise with the appropriate project engineer so that method statements for site works and surveys are produced and approved to the required standards.
You’ll need to have:
- Experience in the use and application of codes and standards such as BS 9992, BS 9999.
- Professional membership or accreditation via a relevant body such as CIBSE/ IET.
- Degree in Fire Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).
- Chartered Fire Engineer registered with the Institution of Fire Engineers (CEng).
