The Project Engineer leads the design of projects (typically up to £25m) or supports a Senior Project Engineer or Design Manager on more complex projects. The Project Engineer ensures that designs meet project requirements while achieving value for money, managing the interface with external design consultants to ensure the process is managed effectively, maintaining progress against an agreed schedule, and carefully managing design costs.
The role works closely with the Construction Management Team to ensure that projects are delivered on site in line with the approved design.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing effective design management across projects.
- Defining scope supporting robust business cases.
- Briefing and managing external design consultants.
- Delivering safe, efficient, compliant design solutions.
- Assuring coordinated, high-quality design outputs.
- Managing asset information and design change.
- Supporting statutory, CDM and stakeholder duties.
- Enabling commissioning, handover and continuous improvement.
You’ll need to have:
- Degree qualified civil engineer; chartered status desirable.
- Proven delivery of civil design or design management on complex, multi‑million‑pound infrastructure projects.
- Strong HSE, quality, constructability and project close‑out knowledge.
- NEC contract awareness, resilient problem‑solver, CSCS accredited.
