Our client is one of the largest water companies in the UK, responsible for water and wastewater services in England.
Our role is to plan and lead the successful delivery of a programme of works being delivered by an Area delivery team made up of the client’s partners and contractors in accordance with their corporate values, safety strategy and operating model, and to act as the interface between the area delivery team and the business at a senior level, managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the capital programme in line with the business strategy.
Responsibilities

- Apply technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to the project portfolio.
- Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and support the wellbeing of team members.
- Ensure quality systems are managed in line with service excellence.
- Manage project plans from inception/brief through design development, planning, procurement and construction in line with the overall delivery program and milestones.
- Coordinate tasks and deliverables to support senior project managers and the wider client teams for timely and accurate delivery.
- Own projects throughout the lifecycle from concept to handover and closeout.
- Prepare, update and implement the project management plan, monitor progress, dependencies and risks, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Drive design development, initiate surveys and site visits to produce works information aligned with the business case.
- Undertake contract administration and understand NEC3/4 contracts.
- Ensure projects are delivered to the right quality, on time and within budget.
- Write specifications, tender and contract documents, including risk registers and schedules, with procurement and production support; assess tenders for contract award.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, CDM 2015, health and safety, water quality and environmental standards, WIMES, and statutory legislation; conduct regular reviews, inspections and audits.
- Manage contractors to ensure project execution satisfies the client.
- Undertake timely third-party liaison (planning applications, land/access, power supply negotiations) in line with the project programme.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement to manage complex third-party relations.
Qualifications
- A degree in engineering, construction and/or project management; member of a relevant institute (ICE, IMechE, IET, IChemE, RICS) and completed the APM PMQ course.
- Willingness to work seconded to the client in the northwest of England; travel to multiple sites required; main HQ in Warrington.
- Water sector experience preferred; regulated infrastructure experience will be considered; 10+ years project management experience required.
- Digitally savvy with familiarity in Oracle and Primavera P6; ability to build lasting client relationships and lead teams.
- Experience managing large or multiple infrastructure/capital projects in a consultancy background, preferably in the water utility sector.
- Full UK Driving Licence essential.

- Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent; or demonstrable professional development.
- Property or infrastructure project management expertise.
- Commercial and financial acumen; experience with large, diverse teams and stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of carbon and sustainability considerations in project context.
