Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
The role leads the end-to-end design delivery of SZC2203 and SZC2205 buildings, ensuring technical quality, safety and programme certainty. Working with multidisciplinary specialists and external designers, it manages scope, plans design activities and drives risk mitigation to progress each facility from basic to detailed design within the Technical Directorate.
Responsibilities- Managing design delivery to meet programme, quality, safety and technical requirements.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.
- Overseeing contract design scope, risk mitigation and configuration control.
- Ensuring consistent, compliant and timely design outputs across all workstreams.
- Acting as responsible designer, managing design strategies, specifications and contract documentation.
- Managing technical management, surveillance and assessment of contract partner outputs.
- Driving schedule alignment, gateway reviews, constructability inputs and interface resolution.
- Supporting change control, risk management, and providing specialist advice across buildings and disciplines.

Qualifications- Degree in engineering with strong design management experience on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Solid knowledge of UK nuclear regulations, safety constraints and security requirements.
- Proven understanding of UK building standards, RIBA stages and technical design procedures.
- Strong technical, organisational and communication skills with proficiency in engineering software.
