The Senior Enterprise Systems Manager is accountable for the operational support, service performance, governance and continuous improvement of Mace's enterprise finance systems and associated business-critical applications.
The role provides leadership and oversight of an outsourced application support team, ensuring services are delivered in line with agreed service levels, operational controls and business requirements. Working closely with Finance, Digital Services and third-party partners, the role ensures the stability, integrity and continual development of enterprise finance platforms, with particular ownership of the IBM Cognos TM1 estate and associated reporting and planning solutions.
You’ll be responsible for:
Enterprise systems service management
- Own and govern support services for enterprise finance systems and associated integrations.
- Ensure enterprise systems remain secure, stable, compliant and fit for business purpose.
- Define, implement and continually improve support processes, operational controls and service standards.
- Drive service excellence through proactive monitoring, operational reporting and continual service improvement.
- Ensure month-end, year-end and financial processing activities are supported effectively and delivered within agreed timescales.
- Maintain operational ownership of IBM Cognos TM1 and associated reporting, planning and consolidation services.
Application support and operational delivery
- Direct the day-to-day delivery of enterprise systems support services through a strategic outsourced support partner.
- Ensure incidents, problems, service requests, changes and releases are managed effectively and in accordance with ITIL-based processes.
- Manage service performance through agreed KPIs, SLAs and operational metrics.
- Coordinate support for business-critical incidents and major service disruptions.
- Ensure support documentation, knowledge articles and operational procedures remain current and effective.
Finance systems and business partnership
- Act as the primary Digital Services contact for Finance Systems support and service delivery.
- Work closely with Finance stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into support, enhancement and improvement activities.
- Support financial audit requirements, system controls, compliance activities and remediation actions.
- Ensure integrity of financial data, system interfaces and business processes across the application landscape.
- Facilitate the successful transition of new functionality, enhancements and projects into business-as-usual support.
Supplier and outsourced service management
- Manage the strategic relationship with outsourced support providers and enterprise system vendors.
- Direct governance meetings, service reviews, supplier performance management and escalation processes.
- Ensure suppliers deliver services in accordance with contractual obligations and agreed service levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to improve service quality, efficiency and user experience.
- Support commercial, procurement and contract management activities relating to enterprise systems services.
Governance, risk and compliance
- Ensure enterprise systems comply with Digital, Security, Audit and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, manage and mitigate operational and service risks across supported platforms.
- Support internal and external audit activities, ensuring appropriate controls and evidence are maintained.
- Work with Security, Architecture and Digital Services teams to improve resilience, supportability and compliance.
Leadership and continuous improvement
- Provide leadership and direction to outsourced and virtual support teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer service excellence.
- Identify opportunities for automation, simplification and service optimisation.
- Contribute to the development of Application Support strategy, operating models and service maturity initiatives.
You’ll need to have:
Technical and professional competencies
- Strong experience supporting financial reporting including consolidation, resource planning.
- Strong awareness of key finance accounting and reporting disciplines
- Demonstrable experience managing outsourced application support services and third-party suppliers.
- Strong understanding of IBM Cognos and TM1 or equivalent financial planning and performance management platforms.
- Good understanding of system integrations, interfaces and data flows across enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITIL) disciplines including Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management.
- Experience supporting financial controls, audit processes and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to analyse complex business and technical issues and drive effective outcomes.
- Understanding of Oracle Cloud, finance transformation programmes or enterprise application migrations.
- Experience within construction, consultancy or project-based organisations.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, planning and management accounting processes.
