Overview: This role sits within our in-house Mechanical & Electrical Subcontractor, Mace MEP. You will be the Electrical Engineering lead on a multi-million pound project in Central London which is in the very early stages. You will be accountable for directing the M&E engineering team or individually accountable for the electrical packages and liaising with Clients, Main Contractors, Designers, Sub-Contractors and manufacturers.
You will be expected to provide engineering expertise via the analysis and development of the design in conjunction with the appointed teams in the delivery and development of technical strategies aligned to compliance, governance, assurance standards. You will be responsible for managing team(s) to deliver key outcomes, contributing to the strategic development of plans and delivery.
You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Managing the engineering aspects of the MEP services and the management of Programmes, Health Safety & Wellbeing, Quality & Commissioning of the projects.
- Partnering with multiple internal and external stakeholders, working in collaboration to implement strategy/programmes/initiatives.
- Managing, influencing & negotiating with key senior stakeholders (up to c-suite).
- Acting as a thought leader providing technical expertise to the tendering process via the bid teams and sector leadership/bid leads.
- Providing technical expertise into procurement strategies, ensuring specialist packages and appointments are procured against agreed standards and costs.
- Proactively reviewing contracts and scope, value engineering, schedules and trade contracts and providing support to the commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle in terms of reviewing progress or resolving issues.
- Executing project technical plans aligned with the Mace operating framework and strategic priorities, such as Prefabrication (C2P), Commissioning and Safety.
- Driving design reviews on information provided by Consultants and Trade specialists, proactively reviewing for adherence against compliance requirements, including Embodied Carbon and Operational Energy associated with the MEP Services design.
- Executing delivery strategies and programmes for project phases, directing the key milestones, interfaces, dependencies, logistics and work sequencing.
- Implementing Commissioning strategies in line with the Mace Commissioning standards inclusive of IST approach, ATP’s and Soft Landings.
- Executing productivity assessments using digital technologies to ensure the project/package is on schedule, to identify trends, key issues or critical path risks.
- Directing the project close out to ensure all elements of completion are delivered to a high standard, such as commissioning, as built drawings, O&M Manuals and client training.
- Delivering continuous improvements in processes through application of best practices and lessons learned.
- Identifying issues to drive continuous improvement and providing lessons learned through the knowledge share process.
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll Need To Have:
- Advanced knowledge of engineering systems including design standards and frameworks, installation techniques, best practice, engineering processes, prefabrication and system commissioning requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of construction build elements, including sequencing and dependencies.
- Advanced knowledge of planning processes and management, with sufficient understanding of key construction release requirements, critical path, tasks/works scheduling and commissioning activities.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial management to allow commercial control of packages, inclusive of the procurement processes, change control, programme impact, risk and mitigation.
- Advanced knowledge of health, safety & welfare core elements such as working from height, electrical safety, fire safety, logistics and lifting.
- Advanced knowledge of Quality Assurance process and management & Commissioning of single systems as well as the integration of systems.
You’ll Also Have:
- Proven track record in delivering projects in excess of £50m+ MEP value.
- Demonstrated track record of successful projects/contribution.
- Proficiency in building services or a specified engineering discipline.
- Trade/Technical apprenticeship or Graduate development programme.
- Formal Engineering training (HNC, HND, BTEC or equivalent).
- SMSTS and CSCS card.
