Join to apply for the Assistant Sustainability Manager – Nuclear New Build role at Mace. Our purpose is to redefine the boundaries of ambition and create places that are responsible, with transformative impact for people, communities and societies worldwide. This role is part of our consult business, delivering climate change, sustainability and social value activities across projects and programmes. The project involves a new nuclear facility on the Suffolk coast delivering clean, reliable electricity for around 6 million homes, contributing to a greener energy system and UK energy security.

You’ll Be Responsible For
- Supporting the development of client climate change, sustainability and/or social value strategies on individual projects, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team.
- Becoming a technical expert and promoting innovation in a particular area of sustainability, such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, sustainable buildings, etc.
- Providing proactive generalist support to cover major sustainability issues with all relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting work winning through bid support, innovation, and client liaison.
- Supporting the drive for Mace to be a leader in climate change and sustainability.
- Providing knowledge of sustainable building design, including embodied and operational carbon and energy reduction, in new build and refurbishment projects, including programme, cost and operational impacts of NZC strategies.
- Assisting design teams to understand and respond to environmental constraints and opportunities to maximise positive environmental benefits.
- Developing innovation and best practice, and clearly communicating these to the wider business and clients.
- Translating best EMS practices across areas, including analysing reporting needs to simplify processes.
- Providing support on bid support work winning/bidding.
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders including design team members, contractors, sub-contractors, and regulators.
- Working collaboratively towards net zero carbon transition and proactively identifying and managing related emissions and reductions during delivery.
You’ll Need To Have
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Post Graduate Degree, etc.) or equivalent.
- Expertise in one or more sustainability topics (waste, water, energy, carbon, responsible sourcing, building design, biodiversity, etc).
- Ability to translate technical topics into layperson language and articulate the value of sustainability.
- Champions sustainability and demonstrates leadership, encouraging behavioural change throughout the business.
