This is opportunity is for an assistant site manager to work for a leading renewable energy developer and be part of the fight against climate change. As an assistant site manager on a renewable energy construction site, you will play a crucial role in supporting the site manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This position is integral to the successful completion of projects and a sustainable future. The assistant site manager will report to the Site Manager, will be based full-time a construction site near York, UK, for 10 months.

  • You will support delivery from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.

  • You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of project managers and senior leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.

  • Site Coordination: Assist in the day-to-day management of the site, including coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel to ensure efficient and timely progress of construction activities.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and safety briefings to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

  • Quality Control: Monitor construction activities to ensure that all work meets the required specifications and quality standards. Report any issues or deviations from the plan to the site manager promptly.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including progress reports, safety logs, and any incidents or issues. Assist in preparing reports for senior management and stakeholders as required.

  • Other duties may include environmental compliance, scheduling and resource management.

  • You will manage parts of projects independently, with oversight from other project managers.

  • A degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience in construction may also be considered.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in construction, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or assistant management role. Experience in renewable energy projects is highly desirable.

  • Full driving licence, vehicle and right to work in the UK are essential.

  • Understanding of construction processes and methodologies.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Passion for sustainability and renewable energy.

You’ll also have:

  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements

  • Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job.

  • Experience in developing and forming relationships with other stakeholders within projects.

  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on., We are also open to discussing part-time, flexible, and hybrid working options if suitable within the role.
