The role is based in Oxford with a primary focus of supporting the people function of a major lab project with a build value in excess of £1bn. You will work with project leaders on an operational basis providing advice in all areas of HR with a focus on the operational delivery of the HR requirements for this project.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Acting as an HR manager driving the completion of HR activity for the project.
  • Working closely with line managers to provide HR advice and expertise in the execution of HR policies and processes.
  • Supporting line managers with effective resource management on the project.
  • Collaborating closely with the Talent Attraction team to facilitate effective recruitment for the project.
  • Providing sound expertise and executing HR activity on performance management, employee relations, engagement and retention.
  • Working closely with the Reward team to support the facilitation of the annual reward review and alignment to the career framework for your project.
  • Collaborating with the project leadership team to support career growth for employees through effective talent management and development.
  • Supporting the business with effective engagement & retention plans, aligned to the Company purpose, values and behaviours.
  • Partnering with the project and wide business to enable effective onboarding for all new joiners.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You’ll need to have:

  • Recognition as a capable HR professional able to apply theory and put HR skills into practice to solve problems and issues of diverse scope, and with a degree of complexity.
  • A good understanding of the employee lifecycle, the diverse needs at specific stages and how to integrate people policies and practice in the delivery of people plans.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of professional skills & knowledge in developing people plans & strategies, attracting, recruiting and onboarding talent, assessing and building capability, identifying, developing and managing talent, and reward and recognition.
  • Good understanding of professional skills & knowledge in managing change, workforce planning, delivering the employee experience and building an inclusive culture, employment policy, regulation and law, organisational design, and use of human capital management system.
  • Advanced level of professional skills & knowledge in relationship and stakeholder management, consulting, and facilitation & coaching.
  • Good understanding of professional skills & knowledge in risk management, strategic thinking, project management, negotiation & influencing, judgement & decision making, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to confront unacceptable behaviour openly and correct it, giving balanced feedback and support to improve performance.
  • Creating opportunities to coach and develop others and setting challenging goals for self.
  • Setting quality, performance and capability goals in line with organisational priorities and goals.

You’ll also have:

  • Project Management skills/experience.
  • Previous experience working in a business partner capacity.
  • Encouragement of individual development and building high performing inclusive teams.
  • Education to degree level (or equivalent).
