The project: P6 senior planner to work on a number of large scale construction projects.

You will support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored. Leads application of specific planning/scheduling methods, techniques and tools. Good working knowledge of planning/scheduling, EVM, project controls methodologies. Ability to advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively. Able to manage planning/scheduling delivery of medium/high complexity projects/programmes. Ability to play key role in multidisciplinary teams and take lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques. Leads and manages a team of professionals delivering planning/schedule management services and responsible for staff development. Excellent written communication skills, clear & concise. As a planning/schedule management specialist, stays up to date with key industry/professional trends. In depth knowledge of schedule management tools & software. Able to provide effective & timely advice to clients. Understanding of data management. Clearly understands role & future career paths available from that position. Excellent attention to detail & able to validate & check schedule management inputs, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary & analysis. Manages assistant and planning managers where required by the scale of the project. Persuading and influencing colleagues. Influences client to accept proposals and recommendations. Satisfying customer requirements. Tackling problems that don’t have an obvious solution. Delegating tasks to others. Selling the business and winning work. Creating and delivering persuasive presentations to large audiences. Spotting and developing talented individuals.

You’ll need to have:

  • Exposure of working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large scale civil engineering/infrastructure projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client side consultancy.
  • A construction related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
  • Experience of working on large projects/programmes.
  • A construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace have to offer.
  • To be working in a large portfolio of projects.
  • To mentor and upskill inexperienced planners.
  • To implement planning principles within the project management community.
  • To work with large range of stakeholders.
  • To plan complicated infrastructure projects and summarisation of these into portfolio level schedules.
  • Experience in construction - living accommodation, offices, workshops, sports facilities, associated infrastructure.
  • Familiarisation with other planning software - Microsoft Project, Asta Power Project.
  • To be experienced P6 user (P6 pro).
  • Familiarisation with P6 EPPM (Web) - for config management.
  • Management of large data sets into simple reporting formats, through coding and layout manipulation.
  • Baseline control and config.
  • Schedule import and export.
  • Schedule risk analysis (QSRA).
  • P6 configuration management - user access, OBS creation and management, user profiles, OBS assignation.
  • To set up and use of resources - future project not yet required.
  • To use P6 for EVM - future project not yet required.

You’ll also have:

  • Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
