The opportunity: Join our expanding Mace Advisory Centre of Excellence within Mace Consult. Our aim is to bring the best advice to our clients, developed at some of the world’s most iconic and successful projects. Our team has a track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of commissions with both property and infrastructure clients across the globe.

We are seeking candidates with a broad and flexible technical skillset to complement our current team by offering advice to our clients alongside Mace sector teams. You will be focused on service excellence, continuous improvement and product development.

Our ideal candidates will have strategic advisory capability which they can deploy flexibly across service lines and sectors and a specialism in one or more of our service line areas; strategy and investment, construction and productivity, strategic development, asset and portfolio performance, commercial and delivery or change and transformation.

For Consultant posts we’re looking for some advisory experience in a consultancy business with a professional qualification or chartership in relation to your area of specialism and/or post graduate level study. Mace is committed to inclusion and these positions are available on a full and part time basis with agile working from home and our Manchester or Central London offices or client offices at least 2 days per week but dependent on client demand. Some domestic and international travel and relevant security clearances may be required. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer visa sponsorship for these roles.

We are particularly interested in candidates with skillsets in two or more of the following areas:

  • Operating model/governance design, preferably in a management consulting role.
  • Organisation design, including team sizing, management spans and layers design, and role profile development in collaboration with senior management, for the set-up of new teams managing the delivery of large-scale capital projects.
  • Capital planning and or built asset management, including phasing, costing and business case development for large-scale capital projects.
  • Feasibility studies for large capital projects, including evaluation of feasibilities from the engineering, financial, and economic perspectives.
  • Economic and or Financial Modelling to inform investment decisions, preferably in infrastructure and or real estate projects.
  • Benefits management, including identification of different potential benefits from a potential project/option and the design/setup of benefits realisation frameworks.
  • Change management on major transformation programme(s).
  • Commercial experience in supply chain management, procurement, commercial management and/or commercial and contract negotiations.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Experience offering strategic advice and recommendations to clients in a consultancy setting.
  • Ensuring excellence in client liaison and service, maintaining, and developing a professional relationship with key members within our clients’ organisations.
  • Providing appropriate skills and support to business development - developing new business opportunities and working to support a range of bid activities.
  • In depth knowledge of one or more property and infrastructure sectors (e.g., Aviation, Rail, Roads, Healthcare, Nuclear, Utilities, Energy Transition, Central and Local Government).

You’ll need to have:

We are flexible about your professional background but expect all candidates to be able to demonstrate skills in research, analysis, generating creative ideas and optioneering as well as developing and delivering high quality presentations and reports. Digitally savvy and keen to explore the opportunities Mace has to offer. Comfortable with a degree of uncertainty, self-motivated to learn new skills and explore a varied range of opportunities. We expect all our team to be adept at stakeholder engagement and client relationship management. For much of the time our Advisory Consultants are working on more than one commission and these tend to be short term so flexibility and agility are a must.

A flexible, team player you will bring a wealth of other consultancy skills across major project and programme delivery and align with the Mace values and behaviours. We’re looking for creative collaborators who generate good ideas as well as exceptional work.

Our values:

  • Safety first - Going home safe and well: We champion a safe, diverse and inclusive working environment, understanding the importance of wellbeing in every team.
  • Client focus - Deliver on our promise: We own the quality of deliverables, strategic outcomes and build long term relationships with our clients.
  • Integrity - Always do the right thing: We influence positive outcomes within our industry, while always aligning with our compliance obligations.
  • Create opportunity - For our people to excel: We champion a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities, inspiring our people and teams to develop.

Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates. Even if you feel you do not fulfil all the criteria, please apply as you may still be the best candidate for this role or another role within our organisation. We are also open to discussing part time, flexible, and hybrid working options if suitable within the role.
