An assistant commercial manager will provide support in procurement, cost planning, and contract management for rail projects. The role involves collaboration with stakeholders to deliver cost control, financial reporting and contract administration.
Key Accountabilities
- Assists with feasibility studies, procurement strategies and contract selection, assisting in the production of procurement reports.
- Aids the application of value management techniques at the outset of a project.
- Provides estimating and cost planning support in production of the final cost plan.
- Involves in the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
- Supports the preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses, preparation of valuations of work carried out and adjustment of variations in accordance with contract terms.
- Works with the Cost Consultant to provide cost control and reporting services during the contract.
- Analyses and supports preparation of financial reports for the client in the required form and frequency.
- Contributes to identifying all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
- Assists on issue of certificates of practical completion and aid with agreement of final accounts.
- Supports the Cost Consultant on issue of certificate of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any completion, submissions and approvals requirements.
- Provides assistance and support to Cost Consultant and/or team/s in the delivery of cost management services.
- Develops working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Works with team members providing operational delivery of team/regional strategy.
Qualifications
- A degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent), or working towards.
- Knowledge of the principles of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
- Working towards MRICS/RICS or equivalent.
