Manages and oversees the implementation and delivery of a range of Stakeholder Management services to support commissions and provides line management leadership and guidance for others within the assigned Hub as required.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Accountable for supporting specialist function(s) within the Stakeholder Management Service on assigned commission(s).
  • Creates/designs effective implementation of Stakeholder Management framework(s)/strategy(s) on assigned commission(s).
  • Manages and directs clients, consultants, contractors and project team on assigned commission(s) on all relevant Stakeholder Management Service matters.
  • Partners with clients to manage and meet expectations and build strong professional relationships.
  • Provides comprehensive advice to the Project team in the administration of relevant Stakeholder & Communications standards, process and tools, including managing risks, issues and reporting to achieve key objectives and the escalation of performance and management issues.
  • Facilitates and supports periodic reporting and structured governance and performance meetings.
  • Accountable and responsible for developing functional management strategies, plans, processes and tools and tracking progress against KPIs.
  • Works with the Stakeholder & Communications Service Director and/or Project Manager to recognise actions, recognise opportunities and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Ensures all activities/operations are carried out in line with Mace Control Centre, Client requirements and prevailing regulation, policy and legislation.
  • Provides Line Management to more junior resources and other Project staff as required.
  • Utilises expertise to mentor and assist the personal and career development of junior staff team members.
  • Leads the integration of the function with all relevant disciplines.
  • Supports the HUB Stakeholder & Communications and Project Controls Director with resourcing and recruitment for the assigned commission.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience of effective leadership on complex construction projects.
  • Experience of setting up effective functional management/assurance frameworks/strategies.
  • Ability to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.
  • Good understanding of construction projects, dependencies and interfaces within the project lifecycle.
  • Deep domain knowledge of providing specialist functional leadership in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence others.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex information and ideas for a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to work in a highly pressurised environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Manages, influences and negotiates with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ‘deep dive’ into topics.

  • Exhibits some commercial acumen and assists with business development and bids/winning work as required.

  • Up to 5 yrs experience (or equivalent) supporting the delivery of a Stakeholder & Communications services within the construction sector and/or management consultancy.
  • Progress towards achievement of Chartered status (or equivalent) and/or membership of a relevant professional institution e.g. Association of Project Managers.

You'll also have:

  • Practical knowledge/application, and understanding of the opportunities related to Stakeholder & Communications Service.
  • Basic knowledge of tools, techniques and software (e.g. MS Excel).
  • Experience of working client side as well as consultancy.
  • Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to a wide range of audiences in our industry.
  • Relevant university degree (e.g. construction, engineering) or equivalent.
