Job Description
As a Social Care Worker, you’ll play a vital role in providing person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities in a residential, supported living, or community-based setting.
Your days will be varied and rewarding — you might be:
- Encouraging individuals to take part in creative and recreational activities
- Supporting with daily living tasks such as cooking, shopping, and personal care
- Helping people build independence, confidence, and communication skills
- Working collaboratively with families, health professionals, and other agencies
- Keeping accurate records and contributing to care plans

- Qualification: Ideally, you’ll hold or be willing to work towards a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care (SCQF Level 6 or 7).
- Registration: You must register (or be eligible to register) with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of starting employment.
