Macdonald & Company are pleased to have partnered exclusively with an independent real estate agency based in central London. They are a straightforward, experienced team who provide advice across office agency, lease advisory, asset management and development in Central London. They work with some of the best known and high profile landlords in the capital. They are now looking for a Senior Surveyor or Associate / Partner to join the Lease Advisory team.
The Role
This is a broad and varied position covering traditional rent reviews and lease renewals, alongside more tactical asset management work including regears, lease restructuring and related consultancy instructions. You will advise a diverse client base, from large multinational occupiers to independent landlords. The role offers genuine autonomy β managing your own instructions and client relationships β while also working collaboratively with senior team members and alongside colleagues in capital markets, lease disposal and tenant representation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary client contact on instructions you manage, providing clear advice and regular progress updates.
- Support the development of a strong and diverse client portfolio.
- Contribute to pitches, bids, presentations and marketing initiatives.
- Identify technical issues within leases and transactions and propose effective solutions.
- Work collaboratively across teams to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
- Proactively identify new business and revenue opportunities.
- Liaise with internal teams and external consultants to deliver a joined-up service.
- Gather and respond to client feedback.
Financial & Commercial Performance
- Support team fee, billing and profitability targets.
- Manage budgets and billing on specific client accounts.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities when advising clients.
- Ensure effective use of billing and debt recovery systems.
Skills & Experience
- General practice background in either corporate or private practice.
- Experience in at least one of the following: leasing, rent reviews or statutory (1954 Act) lease renewals.
- Strong technical competence in rent reviews and lease renewals.
- Understanding of client relationship management and business development.
- Proven ability to build relationships internally and externally.
- Knowledge of the real estate sector and current legislation/case law relevant to the role.
- Awareness of the London office market (desirable, but not essential).
- High-quality report writing and communication skills.
- Good commercial and financial awareness.
- Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
