We are delighted to be the recruitment partner to the Royal Albert Hall who are currently hiring a Project Engineer to join the existing in-house team. For over 150 years, the Royal Albert Hall has inspired artists and audiences around the world, creating unforgettable experiences in one of London’s most iconic buildings. We are supporting the Hall with recruitment into their in-house Building and Facilities team, who play a vital role in the ongoing stewardship, management, and investment of this Grade I–listed estate. The building is incredibly active, hosting around 390 events a year in the main auditorium and more than 800 across smaller spaces, all of which place high demands on infrastructure, technical services, and long-term maintenance. As a charity, the Hall is focused on preserving its historic fabric, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining accessibility for all. Opened in 1871 as a tribute to Prince Albert, the Hall has become a major part of London’s cultural and architectural landscape and has been home to the BBC Proms every summer since 1941. THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the Project Engineer (M&E) within the Royal Albert Hall’s in-house Building and Facilities team. In this high-profile role, you will take ownership of the Hall’s complex infrastructure, driving excellence across all technical building systems in a live performance environment where every detail matters. We are looking for a hands-on professional with the expertise and confidence to be the go-to person for all M&E Project Management matters, providing insight, guidance, and practical solutions to keep this legendary venue operating at its very best.

THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Technically adept, commercially aware, and highly organised.
  • Able to operate both strategically and practically, with excellent problem-solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities, fostering collaboration across internal teams and external partners.
  • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Alignment with the team's mission of planning and delivering professional services that are sustainable and supportive of the Hall's vision now, and into the future.

You will have:

  • A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience managing technical or engineering services within a complex, operationally live environment - ideally in a performance venue, heritage site, or public building.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and building management systems, with a focus on compliance, safety, and sustainability.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors, budgets, and delivering large scale M&E projects.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and industry standards, including health and safety, fire safety, and building regulations.
