Macdonald & Company are working with a client-side employer in Berkshire to recruit a Facilities Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a hands-on in-house team responsible for maintaining and managing the extensive building fabric and infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in developing maintenance strategies, overseeing compliance, and driving forward both planned and reactive works across a high-profile and complex estate. The role combines operational leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple in-house teams including maintenance, decorating, signage, and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement building fabric maintenance strategies and PPM schedules.
  • Conduct asset condition reports and plan lifecycle replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, health and safety regulations, and internal standards.
  • Support events, race-days, and non-race activities with technical expertise.
  • Oversee fabric contractors, manage contracts, permits to work, and risk assessments.
  • Take ownership of signage and branding across the venue.
  • Drive continual improvement, benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Recognised qualification (NVQ Level 2 minimum) in a relevant trade.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate in-house teams.
  • Experience managing large-scale PPM and reactive maintenance programmes.
  • Proficient in MS Office and facilities management software.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of procurement and compliance documentation.
