The Environment, Health & Safety Manager (EH&S) is an integral role at the Wantage site and part of the management team. The role will be responsible for providing full cycle Health & Safety support across the business, driving and implementing strategy and for promoting a culture of continuous improvement in line with business objectives. The EH&S Manager will have responsibility for providing leadership and guidance to specific projects in addition to discharging their duties required to ensure compliance with health & safety legislation.
What will you be doing?
- Championing a safe working environment and promoting the environmental agenda.
- Developing, implementing and updating policies and procedures.
- Driving EHS training and communication.
- Designing and implementing environmental management systems.
- Managing and continuously improving ISO14001 and ISO45001 accreditations.
- Establishing a comprehensive program of safety audits, site walks and inspections, Gemba walks, risk assessments and developing emergency business continuity plans.
- Leading investigations, record and report on all accidents and near miss incidents and drive to close out with root cause rigor.
- Providing reports to senior management on current safety initiatives, identifying exposures and opportunities, and report on KPIs.
- Leading H&S meetings, the election of H&S representatives and manage actions arising.
- Being the site lead at corporate EHS meetings and interpreting corporate wide initiatives.
- Liaising effectively with regulatory authorities on all environmental and health & safety issues for the site.
Who are You?
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
- NEBOSH General Diploma qualification or equivalent.
- Previous experience of working in a manufacturing / industrial setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK Health & Safety Legislation.
- Experience of carrying out and documenting risk assessments.
- Experience in environmental management.
