The Role

We are looking for a skilled candidate with practical experience in operating lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining equipment. To deliver high-quality practical training, assessment and coaching to learners studying Mechanical Engineering programmes from Level 1 through to T Level. The post holder will be responsible for developing learners' practical skills, ensuring safe working practices, assessing competence against qualification requirements and supporting learners to achieve positive outcomes and progression. The role is workshop-based and focuses on the development of technical knowledge, occupational competence and industry-standard behaviours through practical learning activities.

Main Duties for this role include:

  • Deliver high-quality practical workshop sessions across Mechanical Engineering programmes from Level 1 to T Level.
  • Demonstrate and coach learners in the safe use of engineering tools, machinery and equipment.
  • Plan and prepare practical learning activities that develop technical competence and employability skills.
  • Assess learner performance against awarding organisation requirements and qualification standards.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support learner progress and achievement.
  • Monitor learner progress and implement interventions where required.
  • Thoroughly prepare suitable teaching, learning and assessment materials for a range of courses/classes and make use of a variety and appropriate learning and teaching methods.
  • Have available an up-to-date syllabus and scheme of work (showing methods of delivery and embedded cross-cutting themes) for each course/class taught.
