MacArthur Recruitment are seeking a qualified and experienced Structural Engineer to work with a successful company who have offices in the Kendal / South Lakes area, near good motorway connections. This is a varied role working on large and small projects as well as on existing structures. This company has a great track record in staff development, progress and retention.
Main responsibilities for the role of Structural Engineer:
- Production of schematic/concept designs and structural design calculations
- Working with other construction professionals in the development of designs
- Undertaking structural designs using CSC Building Designer or RAM
- Directing technicians (ideally) in the production of AutoCAD and REVIT drawing information
- Developing relationships with clients and other professionals
- General structural surveys and reports, letters and general correspondence
- Diagnosis of structural defects and the development of appropriate repair strategies
Other aspects of the role of Structural Engineer:
- Responsible for the analysis and design of building structures, progressing to overall design of structures
- Ability to produce drawings using AutoCAD software
- Visiting sites and attending site meetings
- Involvement in internal project design meetings
- Attend external design meetings with clients and other design team members
- Prepare correspondence and reports
- Variety of projects, from small scale to multi-million across the county (Cumbria / North Lancashire)
Your experience for the role of Structural Engineer:
- Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering
- Working towards MIStructE / MICE / AMIStructE / AMICE or equivalent
- IT literate with experience of structural design software packages
- Valid driving licence
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and prospective clients
