MacArthur Recruitment is seeking an AutoCAD Technician for a Barrow-in-Furness based engineering consultancy. There is flexibility in the entry requirements and experience required for this position. Fundamentally, you will need to have a sound understanding of AutoCAD and ideally have some experience or knowledge within either a building, structural, construction or civils environment.

Our client can offer further professional development, and perhaps development into structures or civils as well as interesting work across their various sectors. Projects vary from residential, design and build, commercial, renovations, conversions, healthcare, local authorities, infrastructure, industrial and historic, for example. This is a fun, open and supportive company which offers career development. BIM / REVIT experience would also be a bonus however in house and external training can be provided.

Within the role you will be responsible for creating drawings in 2D (and ideally 3D) using AutoCAD.

Main Purpose of the position of AutoCAD Technician:

  • Production of 2D (and 3D as appropriate) drawings and layouts
  • Provide support to and work alongside Structural or Civil Engineers
  • Use of REVIT, BIM
  • Undertaking site surveys
  • Review of third-party drawings & layouts
  • Project document management & control.

Person Specification for the role of AutoCAD Technician:

  • Competent with AutoCAD 2D (3D would be a bonus, scope in the role to use/learn this)
  • Working within a team
  • REVIT, BIM – a bonus – further coaching / training can be provided
  • Microsoft Office and good general IT skills
  • Knowledge of planning and building regulations is a bonus
  • Simple document control, BOMs, BOQs would be a bonus
  • Knowledge of Sketchup is also a bonus.
