We are looking for an experienced estimator to work for the Commercial Director and to handle the tendering and cost estimating processes on electrical infrastructure construction. We are rapidly growing in both DNO regulated works and renewable connections (BESS, solar, Datacentre connections) and the workload is high, requiring someone to be hands-on, rather than manage a team.
Comfortable pricing both HV Power (Electrical) and associated Civils (excavations, foundations, concrete placement, fencing, earthing). Pricing of HV connections, HV circuits above and below ground, cabling and Substations. Work areas include DNO regulated works 11kV and above across the UK and Renewables, non-regulated (Battery Storage, Data Centre Connections).
In terms of the role:
- Work closely with Operational & Project Controls leads to produce tender programmes
- Price works from first principles and in accordance with tender programmes
- Take-offs for materials and work with Procurement to issue materials enquiries
- Take-offs for bills of quantities
- Package, submit and evaluate subcontractor enquiries working with the Commercial Team
- Competent at reviewing contract terms and conditions and extracting elements that influence pricing
- Produce comprehensive lists of assumptions, exclusions and dependencies
- Produce and cost staffing plans
- Present costs in the required WBS as requested by the client and to use in cost and resource loaded programmes
- No management of staff; some mentoring may be requested to upskill Bid Co-ordinators and the Commercial Team
