This is a pivotal moment in the evolution from legacy systems to a modern business, driving increased revenues and profits. This is a rare opportunity to lead a 2 year transformation of legacy ICT systems and ways of working, shaping the business into a modern, agile technology driven organisation that underpins growth, then afterwards undertake the ongoing IT Director role. You will work with the CEO and be at the centre of strategic decision-making, driving change and leading a team that directly impacts all systems operational efficiency, service quality, and business improvement.

About the Role: As ICT Director, you will own the strategic transformation agenda for ICT across the organisation, leading it from old legacy systems to an integrated, future-ready technology environment. You will define and deliver a coherent change roadmap aligned with business objectives. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will turn complex business needs into executable programmes that modernise systems, processes, and help different services lines to grow.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven track record in leading IT change and transformation programmes, including legacy system replacement or modernisation that have delivered proven benefit to your employer organisation in improved revenues and profits.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise architecture and its application to designing integrated ICT systems and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programmes and projects concurrently, with strong project and programme management discipline.
  • Experience managing IT service delivery frameworks, including incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to operate and influence at executive level.
  • Strong vendor and contract management experience, including outsourcing arrangements and multi-supplier environments.
  • Proven capability in budgeting and financial management, including business case development and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Leadership experience in building, motivating, and developing multidisciplinary technical and change teams.

Skills:

  • Background in modernising or integrating legacy systems with cloud-based platforms and contemporary AI architectures.
  • Any familiarity with quality management and regulatory frameworks relevant to testing and certification environments would be useful but not essential.
  • Exposure to digital transformation initiatives, including AI, data, analytics, and customer-facing technology solutions.
  • Experience in organisational change management, including change readiness, training, and adoption strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree-level education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications in project or programme management (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, PMP) would be beneficial.

If you are a seasoned IT change leader ready to drive a major legacy-to-modern transformation in a critical sector, we would like to hear from you.

How to prepare for a job interview at Macallam Resourcing

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
