Macadams are a well-established family business with over 50 years in the breakdown industry. We are looking for a Vehicle Recovery Operator (VRO) who will drive and operate various HGVs, utilising specific equipment to assist with the loading and unloading of broken‑down and accident‑damaged vehicles. This is a great opportunity to join a company that prides itself on helping and supporting local police authorities, major breakdown organisations, and their customers in the movement of broken‑down and accident‑damaged vehicles.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, the successful applicant must pass the relevant police authority vetting to be able to complete elements of the role.

Schedule & Working Conditions

  • 4 on 4 off – rotating shift pattern
  • 10 or 12 hour shifts available
  • Day and night shifts available
  • Due to the nature of the job and workload, you will be required to complete ‘on call’ duties
  • Training provided
  • Competitive rates of pay to be discussed at interview level
  • Full uniform and PPE equipment supplied

Requirements

  • HGV class 1, 2 or 7.5t driving licence required along with in‑date CPC and Tacho card
  • Previous industry knowledge would be an advantage but not essential
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Clean, presentable and of good nature
  • Strong communicator
  • Forklift training preferred but not essential
