A leading SME in Edinburgh, on the cusp of a sustained period of growth is looking to add a Finance and Operations Manager to their leadership team. The role will primarily focus on the accounting responsibilities though the successful candidate will also play an integral part in the operation side of the business. You will report into the CEO and work closely with leadership to help the business continue to thrive. There is a tremendous amount of variety in the role and it's the perfect opportunity for an Accountant who wants to work directly with leadership and gain exposure into the operational side of an expanding SME.

The role will include, though not limited to, the following duties:

  • Production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, with clear variance analysis and performance insight
  • Full ownership of month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Report directly to the board and CEO
  • Work closely with management to assist with the implementation of new processes
  • Support improvements across systems, workflows and day-to-day operations
  • Help introduce clear and practical processes and controls

Requirements:

  • Fully or part-qualified accountant is preferred though not essential
  • In depth knowledge of Excel is essential
  • Experience of XERO & Salesforce would also be advantageous
  • Experience managing accounts receivable and resolving issues directly with customers
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders, including leadership/C-suite level
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data from multiple sources
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail (prioritised over speed)
  • Self-starter, comfortable working independently in a standalone role
  • Experience with non-standard VAT treatments is helpful but not essential
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information
