The Role
- Working within a busy dry dock and ship repair yard, the Mechanical Engineer will support mechanical maintenance, repair and installation work across a range of vessels and marine equipment.
- You will work closely with experienced engineering teams carrying out maintenance, troubleshooting and mechanical repair activities within the shipyard environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out mechanical repair and maintenance work on vessels and marine equipment.
- Support ship repair and overhaul projects within a dry dock environment.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Assist with installation and replacement of mechanical components and systems.
- Work safely within a heavy engineering and shipyard environment.
- Collaborate with foremen, supervisors and wider engineering teams.
Requirements:
- Mechanical engineering or heavy engineering experience.
- Experience working within shipyards, marine engineering, offshore, fabrication, or similar heavy industrial environments is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding engineering environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekend shifts when required.
- Strong attitude towards health and safety.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
- A formal engineering degree is not required.
