About the Role
MRG is delighted to be working with one of our key financial services clients in Glasgow, who is looking for a Product Specialist, to join their brand new Product team. We\’re looking for someone with strong product knowledge and analytical experience to join their Actuarial Valuation team. This role supports the delivery of high-quality product analysis by providing subject matter expertise (SME) on legacy life insurance products, working both independently and collaboratively across the business.
You will play a key role in supporting the wider organisation’s understanding of legacy products, contributing technical insight, and helping to drive improvements in processes and analysis. Reporting directly to the Head of Actuarial Valuation, you will work closely with other SMEs, team leaders, and business managers across multiple functions.
Key Responsibilities
SME Support
- Act as a subject matter expert on legacy life insurance products, supporting a range of business projects and business-as-usual activities.
- Provide specialist input to improve processes, documentation, and understanding across teams.
- Document and challenge existing (“as-is”) processes, proposing enhancements based on best practice and professional experience.
- Investigate and resolve queries relating to legacy products, acting as the lead point of contact for the business.
- Participate actively in team meetings and job chats, contributing to ongoing development discussions.
Technical Support & Analysis
- Support the delivery of actuarial and product analysis across a range of business areas.
- Assist in the production of technical deliverables, including data validation, reconciliations, and analytical reports.
- Contribute to the implementation of regulatory changes and strategic initiatives by supporting process updates and maintaining clear documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with other business functions — including Customer Services, Finance, Commercial, and Risk & Compliance — to support cross-functional projects and enhance operational understanding.
- Prepare and, where required, present reports and papers for internal committees and governance forums.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience within a UK life insurance company.
- Strong technical understanding of life insurance products.
- Relevant experience in either actuarial valuation, project, or change environments.
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Experience working with with-profits products.
- Exposure to business or regulatory change projects.
