We're recruiting on behalf of a leading industrial process business for an experienced
Day Shift Team Leader to join a large, highly automated facility in Glasgow.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations leader to take responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of a continuous process plant.
Working closely with engineering, maintenance and site leadership teams, you'll play a key role in maximising plant performance, maintaining high safety standards and leading a team within a safety-critical environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership across site operations, ensuring activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with all statutory and company requirements.
You'll oversee Permit to Work systems, coordinate maintenance activities, supervise contractors, lead continuous improvement initiatives and support planned maintenance outages, while developing and mentoring your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop the day operations team.
- Oversee Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work processes.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with the engineering department.
- Supervise contractors and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
- Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations.
- Drive improvements in operational performance, safety and housekeeping.
- Support planned shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, quality and health & safety standards.
- Manage team training, competency and development.
- Promote a positive safety culture across the site.
About You
We're looking for an experienced operations or engineering leader with a background in a continuous process, heavy industrial or safety-critical environment.
You'll have experience leading teams, coordinating operational and maintenance activities, and working within robust health, safety and environmental systems where compliance, plant availability and operational performance are key priorities.
You'll be confident managing Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work, supervising contractors and driving high standards across day-to-day operations.
Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
An engineering qualification such as ONC, HNC or equivalent and an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous, although candidates with equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
