The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Advisor to join a well-established organisation operating within a complex industrial environment.
This is a broad, hands-on generalist position where you'll work closely with managers and employees, providing expert HR advice and support across multiple operational sites.
This role offers genuine variety, combining employee relations, payroll coordination, HR administration, onboarding, policy guidance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across a wide range of HR matters.
- Support managers with employee relations issues including absence management, performance management, disciplinary, grievance, probation and flexible working cases.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring all pre-employment checks and documentation are completed accurately.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Prepare HR documentation including contracts, amendments, letters and employment-related correspondence.
- Coordinate monthly payroll by validating employee data, reviewing reports and acting as the first point of contact for payroll queries with the outsourced payroll provider.
- Administer employee benefits and support wider HR administration activities.
- Produce HR reports and management information, identifying trends and supporting decision-making.
- Support Occupational Health referrals, wellbeing initiatives and absence management processes.
- Assist with policy implementation, compliance and employment legislation updates.
- Support organisational change initiatives including consultations, restructures and TUPE activity where required.
- Build strong working relationships with managers across multiple sites, providing pragmatic and commercially focused HR support.
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the wider HR function.
About You
We're looking for a proactive HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and is comfortable managing a varied workload.
You'll ideally have
- Previous experience working as an HR Advisor, HR Officer or within a similar generalist HR role.
- Experience supporting managers on a broad range of employee relations matters.
- Exposure to payroll coordination, payroll checking or payroll administration.
- Experience working within manufacturing, engineering, logistics, utilities, facilities management, construction, production, waste, energy or another operational environment.
- Experience using HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to build credible relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
A CIPD qualification is desirable but not essential.
