Backup & Storage Engineer (On‑Site) – Up to £45,000 + Benefits

Are you an experienced Backup & Storage Engineer looking for your next challenge? I\’m seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented professional to support and maintain a critical backup infrastructure for a major enterprise environment.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, communicates confidently, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee daily monitoring and validation of backup operations across 200+ servers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and technical issues.
• Produce and review daily operational reports, ensuring timely remediation.
• Apply ITIL best practices across Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to support incident resolution.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement long‑term corrective actions.
• Raise and manage hardware support requests with vendors.
• Proactively maintain and optimise backup and storage infrastructure.
• Support the design and development of backup strategies aligned with business needs.
• Document and maintain backup and recovery procedures.
• Manage and monitor storage/backup hardware platforms.

What You Bring

• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery technologies.
• Experience with NetBackup (up to version 10.2).
• Familiarity with NetApp and Dell EMC storage platforms.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux, Solaris, or VMS (nice to have).
• Ability to pick up new technologies quickly, especially automation‑related.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work around technical constraints.
• A collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
