Our dedicated Laboratory Services department are seeking to appoint a Sample Reception Laboratory Specialist to join their team located in Manchester. At this time, we are seeking applications from internal candidates only. Although the usual Laboratory Service business hours are Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30, you’ll need to be able to be flexible as from time to time, Saturdays and out of business hours will be required to meet study needs and demands.
KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- BSc or equivalent
- Biological sample handling/storage experience in either clinical trials, NHS laboratory or environmental laboratory
- Experience in operating and maintaining a QMS
- Experience with LIMS and/or ELN
- Familiarity with the processes and requirements for the handling, preparation and storage of clinical and non-clinical samples (including but not limited to, Plasma, serum, CSF, urine)
- Knowledge of testing procedures and applicable laboratory regulations for clinical samples
- Experience in generating, reviewing and updating SOPs
- Experience working in a regulated environment and an understanding of applicable laboratory testing regulations (including but not limited to ISO 15189, GLP and ISO 17025)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure sample preparation laboratory runs efficiently
- Working collaboratively to ensure clinical studies are set up and run smoothly
- Ensure samples are received and handled in a timely manner and in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements
- Ensure the required level of quality is achieved or exceeded within the laboratory
- Maintain up to date training and improve skills
- Ensure that LIMS entries are kept up to date
- Ensure housekeeping is carried out as required
- Authoring and updating Laboratory manuals and documentation
- Help maintain levels of consumables
