Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a design team leader to lead our engineering team in our Garswood regional office. Reporting to the Regional Hire Engineering Director, you will be responsible for leading a team of 4-6 engineers and technicians, delivering over 700 designs a year.
You Will
- Lead a team of assistant design engineers, design engineers and engineering technicians.
- Inspire team members and motivate them to reach individual and team goals.
- Provide feedback and undertake performance reviews to encourage the future growth of the team.
- Drive performance of the team on a day-to-day basis to ensure that deadlines are met and return dates are effectively communicated to the sales teams to manage customer's expectations.
- Prepare temporary works designs for medium to high complexity groundworks, formwork & falsework and/or propping and jacking schemes.
- Check medium to high complexity temporary works designs providing feedback to the designer.
- Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.
- Review briefs provided by the sales team through Launchpad and provide feedback if more information is required.
- Identify and lead improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.
- Contribute to the hiring and interviewing process for team members.
- Take a leading role in the training and mentoring of your team.
- Act as a delegated engineer for colleagues undertaking Initial Professional Development through the company approved ICE Training Agreement.
You Will Have
- A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering.
- At least 5 years experience designing temporary works.
- Experience of designing and checking Groundworks, Formwork & Falsework or Propping.
- An appetite for leading change and finding better ways of working.
- The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
We Would Also Love It If You Have
- Experience managing or mentoring small teams.
- Experience working for a supplier or in a commercial environment.
- Some experience working on site.
- A professional qualification with The Institution of Civil Engineers (EngTech/IEng).
