We are seeking a Legal & Governance Graduate to join our Nottingham office and support our legal, contractual, and risk management activities across the business. Working closely with the Governance Director and Finance Director, you will gain experience in reviewing commercial contracts, liaising with insurers, and supporting governance and compliance processes. This role offers a clear opportunity to develop and progressively take on greater responsibility over time. We are looking for someone interested in applying their legal knowledge in a practical, business-focused role.
Key responsibilities:
- Contract Review & Commercial Support
- Assist in reviewing and administering commercial agreements, including architectural and consultancy appointments, supplier contracts and purchase orders.
- Support contract negotiations, focusing on risk identification and clarity of terms.
- Ensure contracts align with company policies and insurance coverage.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure contractual obligations are understood.
- Insurance & Risk Management
- Support coordination of the company’s insurance portfolio, including Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance, public liability and employers’ liability insurance, cyber and other commercial policies.
- Support communication between the business, brokers, and insurers.
- Assist with the annual PI renewal process.
- Review contractual terms to identify risks that may fall outside insurance cover.
- Governance & Compliance
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal governance processes.
- Assist with internal audits, compliance checks, and policy updates.
- Maintain records to demonstrate compliance with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Contribute to risk registers and governance reporting.
- Property & Lease Matters
- Provide administrative and review support on office lease agreements.
- Assist with monitoring key dates, obligations, and correspondence.
- Documentation & Communication
- Review and proofread fee proposals, formal letters and contractual documents.
- Ensure a high standard of written English, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Support preparation of formal correspondence with clients, consultants, and insurers.
What we’re looking for:
- Essential
- Law degree (LLB or equivalent).
- Excellent written English and attention to detail.
- Strong proofreading and document review skills.
- Strong interest in commercial contracts and risk.
- Organised, proactive and willing to take ownership over time.
- Strong communication skills, with confidence liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Desirable
- Understanding of professional services (architecture, construction, consultancy).
- Awareness of contract law and/or commercial law principles.
- Experience reviewing commercial contracts (academic or practical).
- Experience in a legal, compliance or administrative role.
