Our client, based in Lanarkshire, is seeking a Junior CAD Design Engineer on a fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at an early stage in their CAD career. You will work closely with customers, technical staff, and business development to learn and assist in interpreting drawing requests, creating and revising CAD designs, inspecting third-party components, and managing BOMs, while developing your technical skills in a supportive environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work with customers, the Technical Team and Business Development Managers to fully interpret drawing requests.
- Prepare and revise CAD designs within agreed turnaround times.
- Conduct technical discussions with customers to clarify requirements.
- Inspect third-party delivered items to ensure conformance to design.
- Maintain and update the CAD library with current manufacturing information.
- Create and validate Bills of Materials prior to release.
- Review historical assemblies for modularity and standardisation opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with team members to support workflow.
- Ensure all drawings and solutions meet SQS, ISO, legal and corporate compliance standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in NCR processes.
- Build and maintain expert knowledge of products and services.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development internally and externally.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to meet customer needs.
- Coordinate technical documentation packs and contract reviews.
Essential Requirements:
- Understanding of fluid systems with the ability to communicate technically.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical, CAD and P&ID drawings.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- SolidWorks CAD qualification or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM setup and use.
- Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills.
- High IT literacy and competence with knowledge management systems.
- Strong business awareness including pricing and profitability.
Hours: Mon-Fri role, Start time 7am - 3pm Mon-Thurs, Early finish on Fri 2pm. The company may consider a later start time.
Salary: £28-32k (movement is possible on this range for the right candidate).
