Our client is seeking an experienced SVQ Assessor to support and assess candidates across Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Electrical Engineering disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation focused on developing engineering talent across Scotland, working closely with employers, candidates, and industry stakeholders to deliver high-quality vocational qualifications.

The Nitty Gritty:

The Role:

  • Manage and deliver an agreed caseload of SVQ candidates
  • Assess and support work-based learners across Engineering disciplines
  • Build strong working relationships with employers, candidates, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and manage individual assessment and learning plans
  • Carry out workplace observations, reviews, and progress meetings
  • Monitor candidate attendance, progression, and achievement milestones
  • Maintain electronic portfolio systems in line with quality standards
  • Provide regular progress reporting to employers and internal teams
  • Support internal verification and quality assurance processes
  • Contribute to standardisation activities and external verification visits
  • Promote a positive learning experience through effective coaching and feedback
  • Ensure all assessment activity complies with awarding body and regulatory requirements

Required:

  • Recent and relevant industry experience within Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Engineering environments
  • Previous experience delivering and assessing SVQ qualifications D32/33, A1, L&D9DI or equivalent Assessor qualification
  • Strong understanding of SVQ assessment strategies and quality assurance standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with candidates and employers
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Confident using ICT systems, e-portfolios, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required

Desirable:

  • D34, V1, L&D11 or equivalent Internal Verifier qualification
  • Experience supporting internal verification and quality assurance activities
  • Experience working with a range of engineering employers and apprentices
