MAC Consulting is seeking an experienced Associate Director or Director level Building Surveyor to join and lead our Building Consultancy team based out of the Birmingham office. This is a senior, client-facing role delivering high-quality building consultancy services across a diverse range of projects. You will provide technical leadership, manage client relationships, and support the development of junior team members.
As part of your role you will be expected to lead, manage, and grow the Building Surveying division by securing new business, maintaining key client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality professional services in compliance with RICS standards.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement growth plans for the department, setting revenue targets and overseeing financial performance.
- Business Development: Proactively identify new market opportunities, lead bid submissions, and cultivate long-term partnerships with high-profile clients.
- Technical Oversight: Provide senior-level advice on complex instructions including dilapidations, technical due diligence, party wall matters, and defect analysis.
- Project Management: Act as Contract Administrator or Employers Agent for major refurbishment and remediation projects, ensuring they remain on schedule and within budget.
- Team Mentorship: Lead and inspire a team of surveyors, providing guidance through the APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) process and fostering professional development.
- Professional Status: Mandatory MRICS or FRICS qualification.
- Experience: Significant post-qualification experience (typically 5+ years PQE) in a senior or associate director role within a consultancy.
- Education: A RICS-accredited degree in Building Surveying or a related construction field.
- Network: An established contact list within the property and construction sectors to support business growth.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Accuracy and due diligence in professional outputs.
- Effective communication across all levels, including leading meetings.
