The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.

To support the Production Manager and team in driving sales and growth for the business through supplying an outstanding level of service to the Production, Operations and Logistics teams. This is primarily achieved by organising and monitoring work-flow and continuously looking to improve employee efficiency to maximise production output.

Key responsibility and activities:

  • Supervising, co-ordinating and keeping safe all the onsite manufacturing and despatch teams/shifts.
  • Communicating job expectations to staff and agency workers; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results to ensure quality and on-time performance.
  • Arranging additional labour requirements (either staff overtime or agency labour) to suit the departments workload.
  • Addressing production problems as they arise and clearly communicating with internal staff from other departments to answer questions or solve problems.
  • Training staff on MIS system and ensuring correct data is input and captured, correcting where necessary to ensure reporting is accurate.
  • Organising for the repair or replacement of faulty production equipment with the Production Manager and/or Facilities Manager.
  • Ensuring effective and efficient usage of materials and consumables.
  • Ensuring materials and consumables are stored appropriately to minimise any damage or loss.
  • Conducting annual appraisals with any direct reports and maintaining correct paperwork in accordance with the PDR process.
  • Providing feedback on performance and non-conformance to direct reports when necessary.
  • Ensuring staff discipline is controlled pro-actively and continuously feeding back on team performance to the Production Manager.
  • Supporting the Production Manager to develop and implement new/improved production policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all colleagues receive a H&S induction and have suitable personal protective equipment issued on commencement of employment.
  • Ensuring all agency workers have received a H&S induction and have been supplied appropriate PPE by the recruiting agency.
  • Ensuring adherence to safe working practices and Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing staff on the use of all machines, equipment and processes and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Identifying and reporting health and safety concerns to the Production Manager/H&S Manager.
  • Carrying out any reasonable request by the Production Manager.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous Supervisory experience working in a production or warehouse environment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • A working knowledge of different types would be advantageous.
  • Experience of an MIS system.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • GCSE or equivalent level Maths and English would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and uses own initiative.
  • Awareness and knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices in a production environment.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to instructions.
  • To be flexible in order to meet business demands during busy periods.
