ABOUT THE ROLE
M4 Talent Group are looking for a reliable and organised Transport Night Operator to join our team in Worksop on a temporary to permanent basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following a successful probationary period.
This is a hands-on operational role, with the main responsibility being the day-to-day management and coordination of our drivers and drivers’ mates. You will be the first point of contact for drivers arriving for their shifts, making sure everyone is present, prepared and ready to go safely and on time. You will be responsible for supporting drivers throughout the night, dealing with any issues that arise and ensuring the smooth running of the operation until the morning team takes over.
Alongside the day-to-day driver coordination, you will occasionally assist with allocating and planning drivers onto routes, helping to ensure the operation runs efficiently and in line with working time and transport regulations.
We are looking for someone who understands the fast-paced nature of transport operations and has a good working knowledge of Working Time Directive (WTD) rules and drivers' hours.
This is a fully site-based role and would suit someone who is confident communicating with drivers and the client, can work independently and is comfortable making decisions when unexpected issues arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the daily arrival and departure of drivers and drivers’ mates.
- Check drivers and crews in and ensure they are ready for their scheduled shifts.
- Deal with driver queries and operational issues throughout the night.
- Allocate drivers and drivers’ mates to vehicles and routes as required.
- Occasionally plan and allocate drivers to appropriate routes.
- Monitor driver hours, working time and breaks to ensure compliance with WTD and drivers’ hours regulations.
- Identify and address any potential compliance issues before they become a problem.
- Communicate changes to routes, schedules and daily requirements clearly to drivers.
- Liaise with the Transport Manager and wider operations team regarding staffing and daily transport requirements.
