M4 Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Night Shift Supervisor on behalf of a well-established and growing freight and logistics business. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in warehousing, transport operations, and ideally air cargo logistics. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing night shift operations while remaining hands-on within the warehouse environment.
Position Details
- Location: Berkshire Area
- Shift Pattern: 4-on-4-off
- Hours: 7:00pm - 7:00am (12-hour shifts)
- Temporary Pay Rate: £15.97 per hour
- Permanent Salary: £35,000 per annum after successful completion of a 12-week temporary period
- Salary Increase: £37,000 per annum upon successful completion of probation
The Role
As the Warehouse Night Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing warehouse operations throughout the night shift, ensuring the smooth running of freight handling activities and providing effective leadership to the warehouse team. This is a hands-on supervisory role requiring operational involvement as well as team management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for night operations staff and coordinate shift activities.
- Supervise warehouse operatives and work closely with drivers throughout the shift.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of company vehicles, trailers, and freight.
- Report operational performance and issues to the management team.
- Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently.
- Build and break down aircraft pallets where required.
- Cross-check cargo against associated paperwork to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety.
- Provide a detailed handover report to the incoming Shift Supervisor and Operations Team.
- Carry out additional duties as required by management.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
- Previous experience within warehouse and transport operations.
- Ideally, experience within the freight forwarding or air cargo sector.
- Proven experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE), particularly forklift trucks up to 10 tonnes.
- Strong understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Effective time management and organisational abilities.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
