We are seeking an experienced and motivated HGV Mechanic / VMU Technician to join an on-site Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU). The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out first-line repairs and preventative maintenance on our truck and trailer fleet, helping to ensure maximum vehicle availability and compliance. This role requires an individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, work effectively as part of a supportive team, and use their own initiative when required. A strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining high housekeeping standards is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out fault diagnosis and first-line repairs on trucks and trailers, including curtain repairs, lighting repairs, mirror replacements and step repairs.
- Conduct Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on trailers to a high standard.
- Respond to vehicle defects and live issues presented by drivers, completing repairs where appropriate.
- Perform daily inspections of rolling stock and address minor defects to minimise fleet downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, legal requirements and industry standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
