About the Role M4 Talent group are looking for a reliable and organised Transport Night Operator to join our team in Worksop.
This is a hands-on operational role, with the main responsibility being the day-to-day management and coordination of our drivers and drivers mates. You will be the first point of contact for drivers arriving for their shifts, making sure everyone is present, prepared and ready to go safely and on time. Y ou will be responsible for supporting drivers throughout the night, dealing with any issues that arise and ensuring the smooth running of the operation until the morning team takes over. Alongside the day-to-day driver coordination, you will occasionally assist with allocating and planning drivers onto routes, helping to ensure the operation runs efficiently and in line with working time and transport regulations. We are looking for someone who understands the fast-paced nature of transport operations and has a good working knowledge of
Working Time Directive (WTD) rules
and drivers' hours. This is a fully site-based role and would suit someone who is confident communicating with drivers and the client, can work independently and is comfortable making decisions when unexpected issues arise. Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily arrival and departure of drivers and drivers mates. Check drivers and crews in and ensure they are ready for their scheduled shifts. Deal with driver queries and operational issues throughout the day. Allocate drivers and drivers mates to vehicles and routes as required. Occasionally plan and allocate drivers to appropriate routes. Monitor driver hours, working time and breaks to ensure compliance with
WTD and drivers hours regulations . Identify and address any potential compliance issues before they become a problem. Communicate changes to routes, schedules and daily requirements clearly to drivers. Liaise with the Transport Manager and wider operations team regarding staffing and daily transport requirements. Keep accurate records of driver attendance, hours and operational information. Assist with dealing with late arrivals, absences and last-minute changes. Help maintain a safe, efficient and well-organised transport operation. Follow company procedures and ensure drivers and crews do the same. Support the wider transport team with general operational duties when required.
About You Ideally, you will have previous experience working within a
transport, logistics or distribution environment
and understand the pressures of a busy transport operation. You will be confident dealing directly with drivers and have the ability to communicate clearly, professionally and firmly when required. Essential: Previous experience within a transport or logistics environment. Good understanding of
Working Time Directive (WTD) rules . Good knowledge of drivers hours and working time requirements. Confident communicating with drivers and drivers mates. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a busy operational environment. Good IT and administration skills. Ability to manage changing priorities and last-minute operational requirements. Desirable: Experience in a Transport Operator, Transport Coordinator, Traffic Clerk or similar role. Experience with route planning or driver allocation. Knowledge of tachograph rules and compliance. Experience using transport management or route planning systems.
