M4 Specialist are recruiting a
Class 1 Shunter Driver to work at Savers Distribution Centre in Darlington
Ideally, we require 1+ years of experience with Class 1 Driving, with a strong focus on previous shunting experience.
The shunter role is critical to the effective and efficient operation of the DC, and you will perform an integral part of ensuring vehicle movements in and around site
The Depot operates 24 hours a day; 5 days a week with fixed shift times for the shunter drivers, however a degree of flexibility may be required to support business operations
Responsibilities of Class 1 Shunter Driver:
Vehicle Movement of both rigid and articulated vehicles
Effective communication with transport and warehouse by phone, radio and other.
Operational support, collection of vehicles and trailers from external sites and VMU
Vehicle inspection, visually checking for defects and faulty equipment
Record keeping, throughout the shift recording movements both digitally and written
Site awareness, being aware of surrounding activity, pedestrians and other vehicles
Health and safety focused adhering to company policy
Essential Requirements for the role of Class 1 Shunter driver:
Hold a valid UK Class One licence
Have valid CPC and Digi Card
No more than 6 points on your licence, only SP offences can be accepted
No previous disqualifications on your licence
Being calm under pressure (the job can be very stressful at times)
Driving, must be an experienced driver as the site can be very small in places
Communication is key with this role. Tasks must be recorded as complete and work acknowledged as soon as its given. Must have a good command of the English language.
Attention to detail, meticulous attention to coupling/uncoupling and vehicle positioning
Hours for a Class 1 Shunter Driver:
Monday to Friday
3 shifts available:- 6am-4pm, 2pm-12am, 8pm-6am ( with a degree of flexibility
Shifts average 10 hours long
Temporary ongoing
Pay rates for a Class 1 driver:
£15.50 days
£17.50 nights
Overtime £22.00
PAYE role only
