Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Product Director to lead a team of Product Owners and collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, and other business units. This role is pivotal in driving product vision, gathering and prioritising requirements, and ensuring the delivery of high-impact solutions that meet customer and business needs.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and an active participant in eliciting customer requirements through focus groups, workshops, and user story mapping sessions with key stakeholders. You will play a critical role in progressing our transformation from a legacy desktop application to a modern, web-based architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Hands-On Customer Engagement
    Facilitate focus groups, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to gather, validate, and prioritise customer requirements as well as the direction of the products and potentially company.
  2. Lead user story mapping sessions with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on feature delivery and product goals.
  3. Act as the voice of the customer within the organisation, ensuring customer insights drive product decisions.
  4. Work with MD and leadership team to define high level vision for yearly roadmap as well as quarter-by-quarter roadmap of projects.
  5. Perform competitive analysis of other companies, using that comparison to assist drive the direction for new product, features or updates.

Leadership and Team Development

  1. Manage and mentor a team of Product Owners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  2. Guide the team in defining and refining product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  3. Promote best practices in agile product development, including backlog prioritisation and user story creation.

Collaboration and Alignment

  1. Work closely with the Director of Software Engineering to ensure product goals are technically feasible and aligned with the development team’s capacity and priorities.
  2. Partner with Design to deliver intuitive, customer-centric user experiences.
  3. Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and other business units to ensure the product generates revenue, supports go-to-market strategies and drives customer success.

Strategic Product Development

  1. Drive the planning and delivery of products that balance immediate customer needs with long-term strategic goals.
  2. Lead the product team in managing backlogs, ensuring work is well-defined, prioritised, and achievable within agile sprints.
  3. Oversee the continuing transition from a client-server desktop application to a modern, web-based platform, ensuring the transformation aligns with customer needs.

Continuous Improvement and Measurement

  1. Define and track success metrics to measure the impact of product features and releases.
  2. Regularly review and iterate on product strategies and processes to ensure they remain aligned with customer feedback and market trends.
  3. Work with engineers and design to develop timelines for projects, along with hour estimates.
  4. Create projects / tickets in project management software using a standard process to ensure projects run on schedule and meet required outcomes.

Outcomes

  1. Successful execution of road map projects (number defined at the beginning of each year and quarter).
  2. Creation of projects that directly impact the growth of Rotamaster.
  3. Documentation of projects.
  4. Proper tracking of projects by all assigned staff.
  5. Reduction in time-to-market for new product, features or enhancements.

Qualifications
Experience and Skills

  1. 7+ years in product management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director role.
  2. Hands-on experience facilitating focus groups, user story mapping, and stakeholder workshops.
  3. Strong background in agile product development, including backlog management and sprint planning.
  4. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset.

Technical Understanding

  1. Experience working in software development environments, with familiarity in agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
  2. Knowledge of modern product development practices, particularly in transitioning legacy systems to web-based platforms.

Leadership Competencies

  1. Visionary and strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex customer needs into actionable product goals.
  2. Collaborative leader with the ability to inspire and drive alignment across diverse teams.
  3. Results-oriented with strong decision-making and prioritisation skills.
