m2r Education are working with this training and development company who provide a range of public services, including employment support, skills training, independent living, and prison education. In addition, they are recognised as being one of the Top 25 Education and Training providers to work for.
This role covers HMP Bedford, HMP Littlehey, HMP Bure, HMP Norwich, and HMP Wayland. The base of the candidate will be the closest site to your home address. This is a fixed term contract for one year. Experience of reading (delivering Phonics intervention, understanding of reading in education) is required.
ResponsibilitiesThe Regional Reading Team Leader is a supervisor role which will provide overall supervision and support to the Reading Specialists and oversee the maintenance of accurate systems and processes required to capture reading screening and support levels and ensure that reading interventions are in place and that they are being tracked and monitored effectively to ensure reading progress is made.
The role will involve collaborating with the prisons, the Education Department, library, Head of Education Skills and Work, Learning and Skills Managers, Industry Managers, and other prison staff to ensure Reading Specialists on site are identifying and supporting prisoners who cannot read or who struggle to read. You will also ensure that on site Reading Specialists are helping to drive the prison wide reading strategy alongside the Education provider. This role requires travel across the below locations:
- HMP Bedford
- HMP Littlehey
- HMP Bure
- HMP Norwich
- HMP Wayland
Your main base will be the closest location to your home address.
RequirementsYou should have relevant and recent experience in a similar role within a learning environment and have a good understanding of reading development strategies and interventions including the use of phonics. You will need to hold or be willing to work towards a qualification or training in providing phonics and/or literacy interventions to adults. Excellent organisational, planning and prioritisation skills coupled with the ability to manage own workload. Knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, and Data Protection of all learners. Valid DBS.
