M2 Property is a boutique, director-led property management firm located in South Kensington. We are hyper-local on purpose – we only manage premium residential buildings, Victorian/Edwardian mansion blocks, and conversions strictly within a 15–20 minute radius of our office, ensuring we can visit often and respond quickly. We pride ourselves on direct, personal communication with our clients – meaning no call centres, no automated ticketing queues, and a highly stable, hands-on team. With a 97% client retention rate, we treat every property as if it were our own.
We are looking to recruit an energetic, detail-oriented Assistant Building Manager to join our small, close-knit team on the ground. This is an excellent opportunity for an office-experienced university graduate looking to develop a long-term, rewarding career in prime central London residential property asset management. Working directly alongside our experienced Building Managers and Property Managers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our portfolio runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities- Property Oversight & Inspections: Assisting with regular, hands-on building checks, compiling detailed photo-reports, and ensuring our strict standards are met.
- Client & Tenant Liaison: Providing exceptional, direct personal communication via phone, email, and WhatsApp, handling day-to-day inquiries without relying on automated systems.
- Operations & Administration: Managing daily office operations, maintaining property files, updating compliance data, and assisting with building administration.
- Maintenance Coordination: Helping line up and coordinate trusted local trades and contractors for routine repairs and ongoing maintenance.
- Compliance Support: Tracking and scheduling mandatory health and safety checks (fire, electrical, gas, asbestos).
- Financial Administration: Assisting with supplier invoicing, expenditure tracking, and supporting our Chartered Accountant-overseen finance operations.
This role requires someone who loves a mix of office-based coordination and being out on-site in central London neighbourhoods.
- Education: A university degree (any discipline; business, real estate or finance-adjacent fields are a bonus).
- Experience: Proven administrative or office-based experience. A professional telephone manner and strong written communication skills are essential.
- Attributes: Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Tech Literacy: Proficient in standard office software (Microsoft Office, Google Drive/Workspace). Any experience with residential property management platforms is an advantage but not required.
- Local Mindset: Comfortable walking/travelling between our tight patch of managed properties across South Kensington, Chelsea, Knightsbridge, and Westminster.
- A permanent, stable career path within a highly respected, independent firm.
- Direct mentorship from industry-experienced Directors and Senior Building Managers.
- A fantastic, vibrant office location in the heart of South Kensington (just a 5-minute walk from Gloucester Road and South Kensington tube stations).
- Standard office hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm).
- A competitive salary tailored to your background.
If you want to move away from rigid corporate structures and build a genuine career with a hands-on, local team, we would love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a brief cover letter explaining why you are the perfect fit for the M2 Property team to hello@m2property.com.
