Overview

As Portfolio Analyst, you support the Portfolio Management Team with regulatory risk, rating and profitability analysis of the client portfolio. You perform annual client reviews, repayment analysis, and assist with credit applications, while ensuring timely reporting and adherence to compliance requirements. You work closely with Portfolio Managers to monitor risk and enhance financial modelling outputs. This hybrid role combines hands-on analysis with cross-functional collaboration to manage risk and support business KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Support regulatory risk, rating and profitability analysis for client portfolio
  • Conduct Annual Client Reviews and Repayment Analysis
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with credit applications/modifications
  • Meet annual business KPIs and personal objectives
  • Provide reporting support to Credit Risk & Portfolio Directors with client financials
  • Stay updated on Policy, Regulatory and system requirements and liaise with Compliance
  • Understand critical risk systems and processes (I Factor, Capital Stream/Atlas, Risk Rating Scorecards, HRCI, EV, EP)
  • Analyse audited/management accounts and forecasts; maintain financial models
  • Review covenant compliance and prepare leverage, EP and EV calculations
  • Prepare written reports on annual financials and YTD management accounts with explanations
  • Identify key financial risks and propose mitigations; determine Repayment Analysis needs
  • Maintain records for reporting compliance; submit financial statements to Spreading Team
  • Assist with client credit applications/modifications and quarterly portfolio reviews
  • Attend calls/meetings with clients, advisors, lawyers; support Portfolio Managers
  • Update in-house financial modelling tools; maintain Client Availability Dashboard
  • Participate in projects to enhance risk management and processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager

Key requirements

  • 2-3 years relevant accounting experience
  • ACA or ACCA qualification preferred
  • strong financial analysis and financial modelling skills
  • ability to articulate P&L, balance sheet and cash flow verbally and in writing
  • strong report-writing skills
  • proficient in Word, Excel; PowerPoint preferred
  • ability to communicate balanced views and consider alternatives
  • proven track record of meeting tight deadlines and prioritising
  • understanding of Asset Based lending/Leveraged Finance and associated risk factors
