About you
You’re an experienced fabricator who knows their way around MIG welding and is comfortable working from technical drawings. You don’t need to come from signage. If you’ve spent your time in sheet metal, engineering, manufacturing or a similar fabrication environment, that’s absolutely fine. What matters is that you can look at a drawing, understand what needs making and get on with producing it properly.
Your experience
MIG welding is the big one here. Ideally, you’ll have around four years’ experience across MIG welding and fabrication, with aluminium experience particularly useful. You’ll be confident measuring, cutting, folding and bending sheet metal, as well as welding, riveting and bolting finished components together. Being able to read technical drawings is important. If you’ve used press brakes, guillotines, bandsaws and general fabrication tools along the way, even better. If you happen to have signage experience as well, brilliant, but it’s definitely not essential.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be joining an established metal fabrication team, producing bespoke fabricated products from technical drawings. There’s a proper mix of work rather than standing doing the same weld all day. You’ll be cutting and forming sheet metal, MIG welding, assembling components and taking jobs from a drawing through to a finished product. The workshop has CNC press brakes, a 4m guillotine, MIG and TIG welding equipment, a bandsaw and the usual powered hand tools, so there’s plenty to get stuck into.
